8 steps to get Google to index your website in 1 - 2 days (Only a few know about the last one and it's powerful!).

Written by Albert Hu

If you spent money and time creating your website that serves as an online funnel for attracting clients to your business, getting it indexed is a necessary step to generating organic traffic.

Otherwise, there is no way for your target audience to find your website through their search queries.

With the proper procedure, you can get Google to index your site in a few days instead of weeks.

  1. Ensure your website is properly set up.

All the basic items are taken care of. That means all the pages are loading properly, the site is mobile responsive, and your domain name is set up with a valid SSL certificate.

  2. Create internal linking throughout your site.

This means that web pages should link to each other. This makes it easier for search engines to find out about existing web pages on your site.

  3. Optimize the page speed performance of your website.

The closer your web pages meet Google's Core Web Vitals, the better. Use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights to check and improve performance.

  4. Ensure that the URLs of your web pages are descriptive and SEO-friendly.

The following is an example of a good URL structure:

    www.MyWebsite.com/this-page-is-about-rabbits

    It is descriptive.

The following is an example of a bad one:

    www.MyWebsite.com/33fsdfasldfjkefsefsef

Notice how it trails off with random letters and numbers. The reason I am pointing this out is because certain CMS automatically creates pages without making the URL descriptive and readable, and website owners need to be aware of this.

  5. Create a sitemap of your website.

A sitemap is a file that lists the pages, videos, and other files on a website, and the relationships between them. It helps search engines understand a site and locate specific pages.

If you are using a content management system (CMS) such as WordPress, you can generate a sitemap with a few existing plugins.

  6. Create a robots.txt file of your site.

A robots.txt file is a plain text file located in the root directory of a website that provides instructions to web crawlers (bots) about which pages or sections of the site they are allowed to crawl and index.

Most CMSs provide an easy way to create and manage your robots.txt file.

  7. Submit your website and your sitemap to Google Search Console.

It is a free tool that helps website owners understand and improve their site's performance in Google Search. Submitting your sitemap allows Google's engine to crawl through your site, which indexes your site faster.

  8. Get a backlink from a high authority website.

Authority is a metric that Google uses to rank a site on the search results page. The logic follows that the more authority a website has, the higher it should be ranked.

If your fledgling website receives a backlink from a high authority website, it will significantly decrease the time it takes for the website to be indexed. This is analogous to getting a shout-out from a celebrity figure and gaining sudden popularity even if you were born a few days ago.

High-quality backlinks also help to raise your website's authority as well.

To make sure your site is indexed, type the following into Google's search bar:

site:<www.YourWebsiteDomainName.com>

If you see any of the pages from your website appear in the search results, congratulations, your website is indexed.
